Odisha government asks UGC to extend final-year exam deadline, suggests one-day gap between exams

The Odisha government has made a request to the UGC to stretch the September 30 deadline until October 10.Following the Supreme Court directive from last week, the Odisha government has made a request to the University Grants Commission (UGC) to stretch the September 30 deadline for concluding all the undergraduate and postgraduate final-year examinations. 

The state government asked to extend the deadline until October 10.

The higher education minister of Odisha suggested scheduling the exams with at least a gap of one day to allow the exam centres to be sanitised properly.

Pointing that student’s performance in the final-year exams is a “reflection of competence of the students”, the Supreme Court directed last week that states and universities cannot promote final-year students without holding a terminal examination.
