The little girl got a precious stone, A sapphire.	The little girl was happy.
The happy Prince became completely blind.	Though it was cold, the Swallow stayed on  with the Happy Prince.
The Swallow told the Happy Prince that it saw many unhappy and unfed people.	The Happy Prince asked the Swallow to take all the  gold from his body and give it to them.
The Mayor did not find the statue beautiful anymore.	The Mayor then asked his men to bring down the statue to melt and make a new one.

Q. (a) What new law did the Mayor propose?

Ans.The proposed new law was that since then no bird would be allowed to die in the town square or near the statue of the Happy Prince.

Q. (b) Why did the Mayor and the Town Councillors think the statue of the Happy Prince was not beautiful?

Ans. The statue of the Happy Prince had been covered and decorated with gold and valuable stones. But the Happy Prince gave them all to the poor and miserable persons in his town. His body is now grey and ugly to look at. So the Mayor and the Councillors commented so.

Q.(c) Where was the Happy Prince taken ?

Ans. Happy Prince was taken to a furnace to melt.

Q. (d) Why did the Mayor and the Councillors want statue of themselves?

Ans. The Mayor and the Councillors were all greedy and selfish. Their extreme greed for being famous prompted them to claim for their own statue to be built.

1. The Swallow said to the statue,"I am staying with you."

      Ans: The Swallow told the statue that it(he) was staying with him.

      2.  The mother said to me , "Please wait for me here."

       Ans: The mother requested me wait for her there.

      3. Raja said ,"Oh! How cold the wind is !"

       Ans : Raja exclaimed that the wind was very cold.

      4. The man said to him,"Go away."
      Ans. The man ordered him to go away.
