Subject And Predicate Explanation
What is a Predicate?
Predicate is that part of the sentence which tells about the subject.
For example
Sima is a gorgeous girl.
In the example given above "Sima" is the subject of the sentence and "is a gorgeous girl" is its predicate.
Note: -The subject of the sentence usually comes first, but certain time it is placed after the predicate.
For example
1. They are playing cricket.
In the example given above "They" is that the subject of the sentence and "are playing cricket" is its predicate.
2. Here comes a man.
In the second sentence "a man" is subject of the sentence.(came after the predicate.)
Underline Subject and circle the Predicate part.
- I want an egg.
- He went to market.
- The sun is moving.
- The letter was written by me.
- I told him.
- He attended three meetings.
- The lion is sleeping.
- Dipu heard the noise.
- I saw the man.
- He finished the work.
